Harmonious Beginnings:UCMP Welcomes A New School Year!


Dear UCMP Friends and Supporters, September marks the beginning of a fresh journey, and we are excited to share United Children's Music Project's latest updates and achievements with you. But before we dive into the exciting new school year, let's take a moment to celebrate the incredible summer experiences of our talented young musicians, who showcased their dedication and passion at various prestigious events!

 

A European Serenade: UCMP students at the Simanof Italy/France Tour

UCMP cellist Nailah Gutierrez (left) and violinists Laura Salamanca and Sofia Salamanca (right) embarked on a melodic journey across Europe during the Siman Orchestra Foundation Italy/France Tour in July.

For over 10 days, close to 70 young musicians from Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, Honduras, Venezuela, Italy, France, and the United States enjoyed daily rehearsals, formed new friendships and played three concerts in Rome and Paris, Through their harmonious performances and cultural connections, UCMP’s students exemplified the universal language of music that knows no boundaries. Shining Bright at YOLA National Music Festival

The musical talents of Sebastian Chang, (top,second from left) Sofia Santana (bottom right), and Richard Celiceo took centerstage at the LA Philharmonic's YOLA (Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles) National Music Festival.

During their ten days in Southern California, UCMP students joined young musicians from all over the country in rehearsals and concerts that showcased the exceptional growth nurtured by UCMP and other El Sistema programs nationwide. Our students’ dedication and passion continue to inspire us all! Watch their journey and performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall!


 


A Crescendo of Growth: Manhattan School of Music Summer Intensive

UCMP's Alicia Umaña (right) and Andrés Marquez (left) experienced a symphony of learning and growth at the Manhattan School of Music’s Summer Intensive. From July 10th to 28th, they honed their skills, expanded their horizons, and found inspiration among fellow musicians. They were also joined by UCMP's Artistic Director, Samuel Marchan, (center) as conductor. Their journey continues to amplify UCMP's commitment to excellence. A huge thanks to Enrique Márquez for making this wonderful opportunity available to them!


 

UCMP at the National Seminario Ravinia in Chicago

Ashley Soto (second from right) , Isabel Umaña (third from right), and Luis Matute (fourth from right) participated in the National Seminario Ravinia in Chicago, displaying their talent and dedication to the art of music, and contributing to UCMP's musical legacy. Led by Chief Conductor Marin Alsop's artistic vision, Seminario Ravinia hosted students from El Sistema-inspired organizations nationwide. Our students were accompanied by UCMP's Violin Teaching artist Katherine Luces, (first from right) Watch the “National Seminario Orchestras for All” video.


 

Notes of Unity at El Sistema NJ Alliance Sleep Away Summer Camp

About 20 UCMP young musicians participated in the El Sistema NJ Alliance’s annual Sleep Away Summer Camp at Princeton-Blairstown Retreat. Now in its eighth year, this musical weekend is a testament to the power of music to bring people together. Young musicians from Newark, Trenton, Paterson, Camden, and Hudson County had the unique opportunity to learn, create, and connect in an environment that fosters growth beyond just musical notes.
